Brooklyn Mirage Construction Videos Raise Doubts About Relaunch Schedule

News

The Brooklyn Mirage is set to reopen on Thursday, May 1, but recent construction footage raises concerns about the timeline.

Avant Gardner entered 2025 with ambitious plans for its renowned New York City venue, The Brooklyn Mirage. However, with just days remaining until the May 1 grand reopening, circulating online videos have led many to question if this timeline is feasible.

An Instagram Reel shared on April 21 has garnered over 100,000 views, showcasing drone footage of the site located at 140 Stewart Avenue, revealing a mere structural frame and wall system. “How on earth are they gonna get this done by May 1 for Sara Landry’s show?” questions rave influencer jiaorgeo in an overlay.

A subsequent Instagram Reel posted on April 25 appears to be filmed from inside the venue, showcasing newer black paneling. “7 days until the new Brooklyn Mirage opens!” states the superimposed text. “Will it get finished in time?”

The Brooklyn Mirage asserts that it will meet its deadline. “The new Mirage will open on May 1,” stated a spokesperson in an email to EDM Identity. “There are no delays in the build schedule because this is a prefabricated, modular project, which was always based on just-in-time manufacturing and inventory strategies to mitigate supply chain risks. With all materials onsite, the plan has been executed with precise details, peak efficiency, and full compliance with all relevant building, fire, and city regulations.”

Recently appointed Avant Gardner CEO Josh Wyatt has been working hard to regain the trust of NYC dance music enthusiasts following the tragic death of a Brooklyn Mirage attendee in 2023, as well as the company’s inability to deliver Electric Zoo 2023 to prior standards. In December, he outlined enhancement plans for the Mirage, focusing on safety, sound quality, and crowd management, among other improvements.

Following Sara Landry’s performances on May 1-2, The Brooklyn Mirage’s 2025 lineup features events headlined by artists such as REZZ, Sub Focus, Black Coffee, and The Chainsmokers.
