Bou, the Drum and Bass Artist from Manchester, Cancels US Tour Due to Father’s Health Crisis
Artists often face difficult decisions, and for Bou, a talented drum and bass DJ and producer originally from Algeria and now based in Manchester, family takes precedence. He has announced the cancellation of his upcoming US tour to support his family during his father’s battle with lung cancer.
In an emotional Instagram post, Bou, whose real name is Mohamed Amine Bouguenna, shared his heartbreak: “I’m gutted to share that I’ve had to cancel my upcoming tour this month in America. My dad has been battling with lung cancer and hasn’t been very well recently.”
The Baddadan collaborator expressed his sorrow for fans: “I’m so sorry to everyone who was planning to come out and see me. This decision wasn’t easy, but my family needs me more than ever right now.”
Bouguenna’s family sought refuge in Europe from the Algerian Civil War when he was just five years old, first relocating to France and then settling in the UK. With his father working as a civil engineer and his mother as a singer, Musically inclined, Bouguenna made his DJ debut in 2014 and began releasing tracks in 2015. He gained widespread recognition post-pandemic through popular collaborations like “Streetside” with Bru-C and “Deep” with Example featuring Nonô.
His much-anticipated second US tour was set to kick off on September 19 at Celine in Orlando, Florida and would include performances at notable events like Lost Lands in Thorneville, Ohio, Suwannee Hulaween in Live Oak, Florida, and The Midway in San Francisco. The tour was scheduled to wrap up with a performance on November 2 at Summit in Denver.
Bouguenna concluded his heartfelt message with gratitude: “Thank you for your understanding, love, and support. I’ll be back soon, but for now, please keep my dad in your thoughts.”
