Hello Eli & Fur! We appreciate you taking the time to chat with us! After more than a decade together as “platonic soulmates united by the same sonic vision,” how has your sound transformed over the past 11 years?
Our sound is in a state of constant evolution. We feel fortunate to share such aligned tastes in the sounds we enjoy. Being on the same sonic page undoubtedly simplifies the creative process. The evolution of our sound has been gradual; we’ve explored various avenues while consistently returning to the vocal-centered, melodic electronic music that resonates with us.
Your recent singles leading up to the album Dreamscapes have garnered significant acclaim. How does this positive reception feel as you approach the album’s launch?
Receiving positive feedback is always rewarding. It motivates us to continue taking risks and creating more. Crafting this album has allowed us to explore a range of styles, breaking away from conventional definitions, so the encouraging response feels fantastic.
The concepts of solitude and introspection are central to Dreamscapes. How do these themes connect with your personal experiences?
Our travels lead us through countless hotel rooms, city streets by night, and early morning sunrises, often sparking inspiration. The album encapsulates those emotions, reflecting our favorite moments from dusk to dawn. Writing this music has been a cathartic and highly personal journey for us, and we genuinely hope listeners resonate with these feelings.
You both excel as storytellers, and Dreamscapes highlights your songwriting talents. How did your creative approach differ for this album compared to Found In The Wild?
We always weave stories from our everyday lives into our music. Inspirations from daily experiences naturally find their way into our work. With this album, we maintained that organic process but allowed ourselves even greater freedom to create without limitations.
What sparked the collaboration with Hugo Cantarra and Richard Judge on “Love Again,” and how has that single influenced the album’s sound?
This collaboration came together rather spontaneously. Upon hearing the song, we knew it was a perfect fit, and we added our unique Eli & Fur touch. Working with talented minds like Hugo and Richard is always a joy, and we thrive on collaboration.
What do you hope listeners will glean from Dreamscapes, and how do you wish your music to resonate with your audience?
We want listeners to interpret the music personally, allowing their own experiences to enhance the emotions they perceive. Watching people sing along to our lyrics at clubs or festivals is one of the best feelings, and it continues to give us chills.
Your upcoming performance at The Fonda Theatre in October sounds thrilling! What can fans expect that might be different from your usual live shows?
This show will be a fully live experience with genuine vocals, guitars, drum machines, and more. We’re essentially transporting our entire studio setup onto the stage for an authentic performance of our songs. It’s a unique experience unlike anything we’ve done before.
As you prepare for this live setup for your album tour, what challenges have you faced?
Finding balance has been quite challenging. We’ve been navigating music creation while on the road and managing various business aspects! However, we’re taking it day by day, and excitement is building.
Before we wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with your fans today?
We have some fantastic remixes on the horizon! We can’t wait to share them in our upcoming sets.
