“I know in my heart that I won’t be able to give you the performance and energy that you all deserve,” stated TOKiMONSTA.
Bou is not alone in taking a break from their music career this week due to personal issues. Los Angeles DJ and producer TOKiMONSTA has announced the postponement of her anticipated album release on November 22, as well as the cancellation of her tour scheduled from September 28 to November 30.
Jennifer Lee, known professionally as TOKiMONSTA, explained in an Instagram post that she is facing “an extremely urgent personal matter.” “I am deeply sorry to share this news, but I know in my heart that I won’t be able to deliver the performance and energy that you all deserve,” she expressed.
“You all deserve my best, but I am just not there right now,” Lee added. “While I am safe and healthy, I must focus all my energy on a family member who is in need of my support.”
In her post, Lee conveyed that she is “struggling to navigate this challenge,” which feels “more emotionally taxing than anything I’ve faced before,” including her Moyamoya brain surgery in 2016 that temporarily hindered her ability to speak and create music.
Jennifer Lee transitioned to a full-time music career after losing her job at a video game publisher during the subprime mortgage crisis. Her upcoming release, Eternal Reverie, is her seventh studio album, announced earlier this year alongside its lead single, “Switch It.”
“I’m asking for privacy and support as I work through this situation, and I truly hope to emerge stronger and ready to reconnect with all of you,” concluded Lee. “Thank you for your unwavering love and support; it means everything to me.”
