LYTE’s Sudden Shutdown Disrupts Lost Lands Pass Holders
The festival landscape has faced significant challenges in recent years. With many cherished events either canceled or postponed, the unexpected closure of LYTE has further complicated matters for those still in operation. Established in 2014, the ticketing service abruptly ceased all operations earlier this month, leaving a substantial financial burden on promoters and placing tickets in limbo for attendees, particularly those who secured their passes for Lost Lands this year.
In a recent report from Billboard, it was revealed that both Lost Lands and North Coast Music Festival have initiated legal action against LYTE. The lawsuit filed by Lost Lands, which remains largely redacted, indicates that the festival is owed approximately $330,000 from the defunct ticketing platform. This financial predicament is not the only challenge facing APEX Event Management, the company behind Lost Lands, as attendees utilizing LYTE continue to remain without clear answers or reimbursements.
In light of this situation, Lost Lands has officially responded, stating: “While LYTE has gone silent, we want to do whatever we can to take care of our community.” The festival organizers expressed their commitment to addressing the payments owed, despite the high costs involved in their solution.
Lost Lands is now allowing those who sold tickets through LYTE to submit claims as evidence of what they are owed. Given the intricate nature of this issue, claims will be verified until November 6, with payments planned for those affected by November 20. Ticket sellers wanting to submit a claim can reach out starting today until October 9 by emailing [email protected] and completing the provided claim form.
Additionally, Lost Lands clarified how their relationship with LYTE was managed, stating that the tickets sold through LYTE pertained to failed payment plans. “This year, there was a minimal number of tickets released in this manner due to the event being sold out,” they explained. “There was a significant waitlist for the event, so rather than re-launching tickets on Front Gate, we accommodated a few hundred tickets to those on the LYTE waitlist at final tier pricing.”
Stay tuned for further updates on Lost Lands, the LYTE shutdown, and related developments.
