Leap96”, featuring ALRT and French vocalist Yona. Scheduled for release on September 27th, 2024, “Downtime” is the third single from Sam Silver’s eagerly awaited EP “Leap 96”, launching on October 18th through TH3RD BRAIN Records.
“Downtime” introduces a vibrant and emotionally charged sound, merging speed garage styles with smooth, expressive vocals. The soon-to-be-released EP “Leap 96” represents a collaborative venture between Sam Silver and ALRT, inspired by the rich soundscapes of the late 90s and early 2000s, when garage and drum & bass first made waves in the underground rave culture. The music features vocal-centric dance tracks designed for both high-energy and laid-back settings. The title “Leap 96” pays homage to the middle year shared between the birth years of Sam and ALRT, which intriguingly coincided with a leap year.
This collaborative effort highlights both artists’ unique backgrounds: ALRT infuses his old-school rave influences while Sam Silver integrates elements from modern garage, rap, and ethereal house genres. The outcome is a distinctive blend of garage, drum and bass, rap, and indie pop elements. Sam Silver and ALRT’s partnership commenced during a fortuitous meeting at a Hollywood studio co-founded by renowned artist/producer JOYRYDE. What initiated as a casual co-writing session blossomed into a two-month-long collaboration, resulting in the creation of the four songs featured on the “Leap 96” EP, with promises of more to come.
