Emerging Techno Duo LUSU Makes Waves with Collaboration Featuring HI-LO and an Electrifying Mix
Wiwek and Mike Cervello initially gained recognition in the electronic dance music scene through their vibrant house and big room tracks. However, they sought to explore new musical avenues. The duo, known for their roots in the Barong Family, has now ventured into the techno landscape as LUSU, showcasing their expanding artistry.
“Having closely followed techno for over a decade, we realized that genre boundaries are fading, and that inspired us to form LUSU,” Mike explained regarding the duo’s journey. “We can channel our creativity into this project while maintaining our identity. We craft techno in our unique style, which we believe would have been more challenging a decade or so ago.”
In recent years, LUSU has released tracks such as “Transition,” “Override,” “Wake Up,” and “Death Trap” under their own label, in addition to contributions like “Reckless” for HILOMATIK and “Ready 4 The Bass” with Arcane Music. Their latest single, “DIZZY,” is poised to be their most impactful release yet. This high-energy track features captivating trance melodies and powerful beats, and it has landed on Adam Beyer’s prestigious label, Drumcode, enlisting the talents of the in-demand artist HI-LO for an exciting collaboration.
The creation story behind “DIZZY” is equally fascinating. Mike Cervello first encountered the vocal sample at a festival two years ago and was instantly captivated. He then shared it with Wiwek, and they eventually discovered an old vinyl featuring the vocal. “Once we secured the vocals, we swiftly crafted a demo that we refined over about a year,” Cervello explained. “During this time, HI-LO incorporated it into his sets, so we invited him to lend his signature sound to complete the track. He agreed, and now it’s officially released on Drumcode!”
With “DIZZY” now available for listeners worldwide, LUSU is celebrating with an electrifying techno mix designed to keep you dancing. This mix features a blend of their original tracks alongside tracks from Eli Brown, Hertz, and Adam Beyer. The duo described it as “a journey through our current state of mind.”
