Exciting News: Armin van Buuren and Pasquale Rotella Announce Potential US Edition of A State Of Trance Festival

A State of Trance has established itself as a leading force in the dance music scene through its renowned radio show, but its festival experience in The Netherlands is unparalleled for trance enthusiasts. Earlier this year, it was announced that this monumental festival would be managed by Insomniac‘s newly established division, Insomniac Europe, and following today’s radio show episode during ADE Week, even more developments are on the horizon.

Armin van Buuren and Ruben de Ronde are currently engaged in an extensive ten-hour broadcast of A State Of Trance (Episode 1195), during which they welcomed Insomniac Founder and CEO Pasquale Rotella for a discussion. Pasquale reminisced about a memorable experience of witnessing Armin perform before Ruben inquired about the motivations behind organizing ASOT.

“You refer to it as a challenge. I see it as an opportunity,” Pasquale expressed. “We produce trance music events, but there’s only one Armin, and only one ASOT. The excitement is palpable, and it’s an honor for us. We aim to be an invaluable resource to enhance this experience… it’s already exceptional, but we’re committed to elevating it further and introducing elements that have yet to be seen.”

Armin then conveyed his long-standing desire to bring the A State Of Trance Festival to the U.S., indicating a bright future for the iconic brand. Pasquale subsequently revealed that the festival is set to make its way across the Atlantic for a U.S. edition soon.

What better place to leak it. I couldn’t be more excited. Although born here in The Netherlands, and what you’ve built is absolutely amazing, your fans are everywhere all over the world. In the States, there needs to be a massive, perfectly produced ASOT Festival.

While Insomniac has previously organized events in Europe, such as EDC UK, Dreamstate Europe, and Secret Project Festival in Portugal, which was initially supposed to be another edition of EDC, this year has marked a significant expansion of their European presence. Insomniac Europe is slated to host the Amsterdam Music Festival (AMF) during ADE this year, along with the upcoming A State Of Trance Festival in Rotterdam next year. They have also recently collaborated with Cosmopop, known for the legendary techno event series Time Warp, for future ventures.

A State Of Trance has previously held satellite editions in the United States, and while Armin van Buuren has toured extensively, a full-scale festival has yet to take place. The last A State Of Trance event in the U.S. occurred in 2022 during the ASOT1000 celebration, when Armin van Buuren and his team took over the then Banc of California Stadium, now BMO Stadium, for a one-night only event.

Details surrounding this new ASOT and Insomniac collaboration remain scarce, but it is expected to launch as soon as 2025. Be sure to check out the complete interview below, and follow both brands on social media for the latest updates.
