Prepare for the Excitement of Escape Halloween: Key Details on Set Times, Prohibited Items, and More!


Escape Halloween is just around the corner, promising another unforgettable weekend for electronic dance music enthusiasts. The festival is returning to the NOS Events Center on October 25-26. This year’s event features an impressive lineup including Martin Garrix, Fatboy Slim, deadmau5, James Hype, Maddix, AFROKI (AFROJACK + Steve Aoki), Don Diablo, Da Tweekaz, Angerfist, Adventure Club, Alison Wonderland, Cloonee, Meduza, and others.

This year, the festival is set to offer an even more thrilling experience. Insomniac has announced expanded grounds and a revamped layout, providing more space to dance and discover exciting new features. This includes the introduction of the Boiler Room, a new central area for Crazy Town, and the beloved Sewer District stage relocating to a different area of the venue.

While these occurrences are rare, some individuals exploit these events to take advantage of unsuspecting attendees. It’s crucial to remain vigilant about your belongings while at Escape Halloween.

Escape Halloween 2024 – Do’s & Don’ts:

Permitted Items

  • YES Deodorant
  • YES E-cigs/vapes
  • YES Festival totems or decorated pool noodles (see Totem Guidelines)
  • YES Flags/banners or handmade signs (no corporate/company-branded and no hard flagpoles)
  • YES Glowsticks & glowing/illuminated costumes or jewelry, LED poi and orbitals, Hula hoops – including LED hoops
  • YES NON-CLEAR (and clear) hydration packs with no more than two main compartments and one smaller compartment (must be empty upon entry)
  • YES Non-professional flash/still cameras, handheld video devices under 6″ (Sony Action Cam, GoPro, etc.), and GoPro extendable poles
  • YES Personal misting fan with a bottle no larger than 1.5L (must be empty upon entry)
  • YES Physician-prescribed medication that is not expired (must show physician’s prescription and consult with a safety officer upon entry)
  • YES Reusable water bottles (must be empty upon entry)
  • YES Sealed Intranasal Naloxone
  • YES CLEAR bags that do not exceed 12″x6″x12″
  • YES NON-CLEAR (and clear) small clutch bags not exceeding 6″ x 9″ (15cm x 23cm) with or without handle or carrying straps are permitted

Prohibited Items

  • NO Aerosol products/cans
  • NO Balls or Frisbees
  • NO Costumes resembling public safety uniforms (police, SWAT, fire, security, or medical)
  • NO Drones, remote-controlled aircraft, or toys
  • NO Drugs or drug paraphernalia
  • NO Gas masks
  • NO Glass, cans, cups, or coolers
  • NO Illegal substances
  • NO Laser pointers and air horns
  • NO Markers, pens, or spray paint
  • NO Massagers
  • NO Outside food or beverages (including alcohol and candy)
  • NO Over-the-counter medication
  • NO Pets
  • NO Professional photo, video, or audio recording equipment (no detachable lenses, tripods, big zooms, or commercial-use rigs)
  • NO Red-colored light-up wands, batons, or lightsabers
  • NO Stickers or flyers
  • NO Tents, large umbrellas, chairs, or blankets
  • NO Toy guns, water guns, or slingshots
  • NO Weapons of any kind (including pocket knives, pepper spray, fireworks, etc.)
  • NO Wind chairs/sofas

Costume Guidelines

  • NO drugs or drug paraphernalia
  • NO costumes resembling police, fire, security, or medical personnel
  • NO handcuffs
  • NO glass or ceramic masks
  • NO full-face makeup that obscures your identity from your government-issued photo ID
  • NO items resembling weapons or weapon accessories, real or fictional (including whips, lightsabers, axes, pocket knives, swords, guns, fake weapons/props, etc.)
  • NO violent props, including crops, whips, ropes, chains, or tethers
  • NO sharp metal spikes
  • Please remember that we are an inclusive community, and costumes/decorations should not misrepresent race, religion, or cultural heritage.

Totem Guidelines

  • Maximum height is 10 feet.
  • Totems must be constructed from lightweight materials (e.g., foam, PVC; no solid metal).
  • Collapsible/telescoping camera extenders that follow the guidelines are permitted (lightweight/hollow aluminum/polycarbonate).
  • PVC, light wood, or aluminum poles must not exceed 1 inch in diameter.
  • Decorated pool noodles are ideal for easy entry through security.
  • Inflatables attached to totems must be deflated upon entry.
  • Any items deemed dangerous will not be allowed.
  • Totems promoting illegal activity or hate speech are prohibited. Please maintain a PLUR environment.
