Kompany Reveals Chronic Kidney Disease Diagnosis But Continues to Perform
Kompany is navigating a challenging journey as he adjusts to life with chronic kidney disease. The renowned Los Angeles bass music DJ and producer recently opened up to his fans about his health struggles, which may influence his touring and music production in the future.
In an Instagram post, Kompany, whose real name is Kyle Hagberg, shared his experience with his followers. He stated, “I’ve been quiet across my socials lately and I wanted to address why. I was recently diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, and it’s taken a pretty big toll on me physically and mentally.”
Hagberg noted that he has gained clarity regarding his health condition and is working on better management. However, he confessed that adapting to this new reality has been challenging. He expressed, “Music has always been my passion and my outlet, and while I’m still here creating and playing shows, I may need to slow down at times.”
Chronic kidney disease occurs when the kidneys are damaged and fail to filter blood effectively, leading to a buildup of waste in the body. This condition can result in several complications, including high blood pressure, heart disease, strokes, and depression.
Hagberg’s journey in DJing began in 2011 after witnessing Skrillex perform at the HARD Summer music festival in Southern California. As a graduate of Icon Collective, he gained early recognition through his collaborations with G-Rex on tracks like “Sice” and “After All” in 2016, subsequently releasing music on the influential label Never Say Die.
In closing, Hagberg offered an important reminder to his fans about health and wellness: “Please, let my experience be a reminder: take care of yourselves. Get checked up, listen to your body, and don’t ignore things that feel ‘off.’ Health is everything, and I want each of you to be around for a long time.”
