What So Not Reveals the Challenges Behind His Upcoming MOTIONS Tour – Get Ready for New Music and Unique Experiences
If you feel like What So Not has been quiet lately, you’re not alone. The Australian DJ and producer had to abandon an entire album and event concept in 2022, but he’s making a highly anticipated comeback with his new project, MOTIONS, which will bring him back to the US.
What So Not, whose real name is Christopher John Emerson, shared insights into the personal challenges he faced in recent years via Instagram. He described 2022 as “one of the harder years” of his life, as he spent three years working on an album and a corresponding stage show, only to ultimately scrap the entire project.
“Unfortunately, everything fell apart,” Emerson expressed. “Compounding delays resulted in the final product being only 20% of what it should have been, and it was heart-wrenching.”
During this challenging time, Emerson was also dealing with a back injury that hindered his ability to tour and produce music effectively. To make matters worse, he lost a decade’s worth of work when his laptop became corrupted.
Despite these setbacks, Emerson found the strength to regroup and began planning a new album and tour concept. His recently announced MOTIONS tour, named after his August sophomore album, emerged from his desire to ask, “What can I do to help my industry?”
“This tour is as much about you as it is about me,” Emerson clarified. “The MOTIONS ideology represents the interwoven fabric connecting us all, so at each stop, I’m committed to giving back in every way I can.” This includes intimate pop-up events and meet-and-greets, along with featuring local supporting artists based on fan suggestions.
