Sub.mission Resident Mojo Sets the Tone for the Night
As attendees arrived, the sounds of Mojo filled the air, creating an atmosphere of eager anticipation. Sub.mission understands the importance of strong openers, and Mojo was the perfect choice to kick off the night.
Once warmed up, the exploration of enchanting realms began. Wandering the whimsical halls, my friends and I stumbled upon an intimate movie theater featuring artists spinning tracks as a delightful side quest. Surprise sets were scattered throughout the various worlds, adding delightful surprises for attendees.
Next, we joined in the excitement of the Frick Frack Black Jack game. The atmosphere was electric as people wagered the most unusual items in hopes of winning quirky prizes from the Frick Frack crew. It was entertaining to see attendees in Halloween costumes placing their bets, with new characters roaming the familiar worlds of the convergence station.
TF Marz Brings Hip-Hop to Life on C Street
The exhilarating sounds of a Baby Keem remix filled the air as TF Marz took the stage, igniting the crowd with energy. With seamless transitions that captivated everyone, it was hard to tear ourselves away, but the overlapping performances were the only downside of the night.
As we journeyed through Numina, we were thrilled to catch Inspect3r spinning UK garage. His playful set was the perfect backdrop as we made our way to catch the tail end of Sicaria’s performance. The energy in the room was palpable as we arrived, eager to witness the sound selection prowess of the queen.
The Perplexiplex was packed by the time Sicaria finished, and the crowd erupted as Visages took to the decks. Playing a mix of their upcoming tracks and classic collaborations with Alix Perez, Monty, and others, Visages showcased the full spectrum of their powerful discography.
Alex Unger Enchants with Soulful Sounds
It’s impossible to resist the captivating sounds of Alex Unger. His music blends various styles into a seamless set, and one standout moment occurred when the crowd recognized his reimagining of “Can I Kick It?.” The entire room swayed in unison, singing along to the timeless lyrics of A Tribe Called Quest.
We took a moment to relax in the moon room, a favorite spot in Meow Wolf. This serene space allows guests to escape the chaos, surrounded by calming blue visuals and a glowing moon at its center. Such sanctuaries are essential for attendees to recharge during events.
As the night drew to a close, we rushed to catch three final sets. The stacked performances of pheel., Two Swords, and Lavier had attendees darting from room to room to ensure they didn’t miss any of the action.
We made our way from Emia to Numina to catch the other two acts before settling in for the finale with Two Swords at C Street. The energy was palpable as he unleashed deep grime beats, with attendees gazing up at shooting stars from an art installation, feeling overwhelmed by sheer bliss.
Meow Wolf is already an eccentric venue, but the underground sounds of Sub.mission elevate its offerings to exhilarating new heights. Every artist, audiovisual element, and roaming performer came together harmoniously, creating scenes reminiscent of a cinematic experience.
