The Blessed Madonna Discusses Recent Health Issues and Tour Cancellations
Fans of The Blessed Madonna across South America and beyond received disappointing news today. The renowned US DJ and producer has announced the cancellation of her upcoming tour dates due to a chronic health condition.
The Blessed Madonna, whose real name is Marea Stamper, shared the news via Instagram. “I have been ill and I was pulled by my doctors from the South American tour for ongoing, serious medical reasons,” she indicated in her statement.
“Many of you know it’s been a tough year. I fought through surgery and treatments to even get to South America in the first place and I felt capable and so very excited,” Stamper elaborated. “So it’s humbling to say the least when your body doesn’t do what you demand of it.”
While Stamper did not specify the exact ailment that led to her tour cancellations, she previously mentioned to the BBC that she has been dealing with persistent anemia “for some time” and underwent surgery to determine its cause. “They really fixed me up,” she shared. “Otherwise, I would have died on this next tour.”
Persistent anemia, often referred to as anemia of chronic disease, typically accompanies conditions like cancer, kidney disease, or ulcerative colitis. It is characterized by low levels of red blood cells or hemoglobin, leading to symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, headaches, and pale skin.
Stamper ended her statement with heartfelt apologies. “I know you all save your money for tickets,” she expressed. “Times are hard. You travel. It’s a big deal. I don’t take you for granted. I love you all so much. My heart is broken. So we must mend it together soon.”
