Rony Seikaly’s new EP, Slap Your Wrist, embodies house music in its most authentic form: dynamic, liberating, and perpetually evolving.
Transitioning from an NBA star to a globally recognized DJ, Rony Seikaly exemplifies that exceptional talent transcends boundaries. In recent years, he has emerged as one of the most thrilling figures within the international electronic music scene.
With a distinct talent for music production, the Lebanese-American DJ has performed alongside notable names such as Marco Carola, Damian Lazarus, Bedouin, Seth Troxler, and Guy Gerber. This year, he has graced iconic venues like Stereo in Montreal, Club Space in Miami, The Grand Factory in Beirut, and Zamna in Tulum, while also releasing exciting tracks and remixes such as “Lose Your Love,” “Color of Love,” and “No Talking.”
Seikaly is back with a new three-track EP titled Slap Your Wrist, released under his label Stride Records. This latest collection is accompanied by a refreshed visual identity for the label, drawing inspiration from retro sports and nostalgic ’90s themes, reflecting the label head’s vision of inclusivity and creativity while shining a light on emerging talents.
In his latest EP, Rony Seikaly takes an adventurous approach to house music. The opening track, “Carrot Cake,” features shimmering background tones that create a dreamy atmosphere with captivating melodies and sparkling chimes. Following this, “Invisible Man” delivers a punchy tech house vibe infused with driving funk, while the title track “Slap Your Wrist” maintains the high energy, culminating in a vibrant dancefloor experience.
Each track offers a unique exploration within the genre, allowing Seikaly to unleash his creativity and express his sound. “The reason I started my label, Stride Records, is because I felt a little outside the box,” Seikaly explained. “My music defies easy categorization. This EP, Slap Your Wrist, showcases three distinct vibes that reflect my creative range. I’ve closely followed the evolution of house music as a student of the genre, and I believe there’s a space for house music to exist beyond traditional genre limits. I’m striving to create that space.”
For Seikaly, house music is fundamentally about self-expression—whether it leans towards deep and soulful or experimental and diverse. He is committed to pushing the creative boundaries because the genre is not limited to a single sound; it’s about evolution and the freedom to innovate.
