News

Blending classic and modern dubstep, Tape B presents a nostalgic electronic experience with his latest EP, Distortion Theory.

Florida’s very own DJ and producer Tape B revitalizes the old-school dubstep sound with a contemporary twist. His unique “Old School x New School” production approach fuses nostalgic dubstep elements with modern bass and hip-hop influences, marking a significant year in 2024. Tape B has gained recognition by performing at prestigious music festivals, including Ultra Music Festival, Coachella, and EDC Las Vegas. As the year wraps up, he unveils his most awaited project, Distortion Theory.

Drawing inspiration from his 2021 EP, Distortion Theory highlights Tape B’s musical diversity, showcasing his ability to blend various styles beyond just hard-hitting bass. The EP’s eight tracks are crafted to echo the flow of his live performances, transitioning from high-energy beats to more vibe-focused tracks.

This EP embodies the essence of the fall season, capturing the nostalgia and sounds that resonate with me during this time. I hope you all enjoy it.

Kicking off with the dynamic “Backspin Bass,” Tape B incorporates his signature tagline. This bass-heavy anthem features samples from Lil Wayne‘s “A Milli,” creating a nostalgic live edit that has become a staple in his sets. Following this, “Hot One” evolves into a gritty, dark dubstep track characterized by deep, resonant basslines.

Additionally, Tape B revives a fan-favorite from his 2022 EP, A Dose of Nostalgia, with “I Won’t Be Your Drug VIP.” The lead single, “Nocturnal,” a collaboration with VKTM, showcases innovative riddim chops and merges the unique styles of both artists. The EP is rounded out with tracks like “Back to the Dust” featuring PAV4N, “Someone to Hold” with Dani King, and “Never Alone,” creating a well-rounded collection.
