Lost In Dreams has just released “Circles,” a captivating new single that brings together the talents of CloudNone, Abandoned, and Nina Sung. This collaboration combines liquid drum & bass beats with a melodic bass feel, resulting in a rich and emotionally resonant listening experience.
CloudNone continues to innovate following the success of his recent release, the ‘Bliss’ EP, which featured the chart-topping track “Quiet of My Mind.” This track garnered significant airplay from renowned artists such as Illenium and Alison Wonderland and received accolades from platforms like Iggy Magazine and Music For All. In “Circles,” CloudNone’s ethereal production style serves as a backdrop for the Danish duo Abandoned, who are known for their emotive melodic dubstep. This time, Abandoned ventures into liquid drum & bass territory while still maintaining their signature atmospheric sound.
Nina Sung, a familiar name on the Lost In Dreams label, has previously collaborated on tracks like “Fall Back to You” with Synymata and “I’ll Be There” with STAR SEED. In “Circles,” her haunting and expressive vocals become the emotional heart of the song, articulating the universal experience of feeling trapped in cycles of stagnation and suffering. Her poignant lyrics are beautifully complemented by delicate piano melodies, shimmering tonal elements, and flowing synth lines, creating a harmonious blend of introspection and motion.
The song has a rich developmental history, initially conceived by Abandoned in 2021. It underwent multiple revisions before CloudNone and Nina Sung contributed their distinct influences. Following the completion of CloudNone’s debut album in 2023, the collaboration was reignited, culminating in a lush and genre-defying production that expands the horizons of melodic bass music.
CloudNone elaborates on the collaboration process: “‘Circles’ is a unique offering from Abandoned, Nina Sung, and myself. We went in circles a bit throughout the writing process, but ultimately landed with this beautiful, soft, emotive piece and I’m so stoked to have it out in the world.”
Abandoned discusses their creative shift in this new song: “We’re excited to share that this song marks a departure from our usual style. Collaborating with CloudNone was an incredible experience that pushed us out of our comfort zones, allowing us to create something we’re truly proud of. Nina’s vocals beautifully tie the track together, making it the perfect fit for our debut release under the Lost in Dreams label.”
Nina Sung shares insights about the song’s lyrical themes: “The song came out about when Cloudnone reached out to work on his track with the Abandoned guys, and I knew from the melancholic sounds that it had to be about something we’ve all experienced: that feeling of running around trying to get ahead and progress past pain but feeling like you’re still stuck.”
“Circles” has already made an impact, having had its live debut performed by Nina Sung during CloudNone’s standout set at the Lost In Dreams festival in Los Angeles last summer, receiving enthusiastic responses from the audience. With CloudNone’s innovative sound design, Abandoned’s evolving production style, and Nina Sung’s distinctive vocal presence, “Circles” exemplifies a significant achievement for Lost In Dreams and stands as a vivid testament to true artistic collaboration.
