After its remarkable sold-out debut earlier this year, the techno paradise Upclose, the latest festival from Awakenings, will return to Spaarnwoude-Park on May 17-18. This boutique festival celebrates the dancefloor, evoking the nostalgic ’90s rave scene, creating a vibe rooted in love, music, and connection. Upclose eliminates the unnecessary, fostering a genuine, intimate connection between sound, community, space, and DJ, celebrating the essence of rave and dance culture.
This week, the festival unveiled an astonishing lineup of techno talent for its much-anticipated return, featuring names like Jeff Mills, KI/KI, Ben Klock, Chris Stussy, 999999999, and Rødhåd. It’s safe to say this lineup is a techno enthusiast’s dream.
Upclose is more than just a festival; it’s a convergence of some of the most influential, established, and emerging figures in the techno landscape. The lineup pays homage to the ’90s with hypnotic and minimal beats while also incorporating UK Garage legend DJ EZ for added historical significance.
