Fat Tony Addresses Assault Incident at The Lido in Margate, UK
Anthony Marnach, widely recognized in the dance music scene as Fat Tony, has revealed that he was violently attacked and rendered unconscious following his performance at The Lido in Margate, UK, on the evening of Friday, December 13.
The next day, a visibly injured Marnach shared a video on Instagram, detailing the shocking incident. He stated that he “can’t really go into details” but confirmed he was “attacked last night at a gig, in the DJ box by another DJ,” resulting in him “being knocked out, then taken to hospital and spending the night in A&E.” Consequently, he had to cancel his scheduled performance that evening at No90 in East London.
“You can see the damage on my face and the swelling, which is not good,” Marnach expressed. “I’m absolutely devastated. I’m heartbroken this occurred. I’m heartbroken that people resort to violence, especially when our work stems from a place of love.”
In a more detailed conversation with Resident Advisor, Marnach elaborated that the altercation began when the unnamed DJ entered the booth with his friends and allegedly shoved him three times. Although they initially shook hands and seemed to reconcile, the situation escalated.
“Then his friend approached me and said, ‘what’s your problem you fucking queer?’” Marnach recounted. “I returned to the booth to retrieve my USB stick, and that’s the last thing I remember. I was completely knocked out, and I’ve been told the DJ attempted to stomp on my head while I was unconscious on the floor.”
On December 15, Marnach shared a follow-up video on Instagram. Besides expressing his gratitude to supporters for their kind messages, he mentioned that “the police are doing what they need to do, and the situation will be resolved.”
