Only Columbia Sussex Corporation and Columbia Sussex Management Will Face Trial in Paul Reder Sexual Abuse Lawsuit
An anonymous plaintiff, referred to as John Doe, has dismissed 10 of the 12 defendants in his lawsuit against Paul Reder, the former President of Bass Camp Festival, who is accused of trafficking and sexually abusing him from 2012 to 2016.
The lawsuit, filed in a California district court on December 13, has resulted in the dismissal of civil charges against several companies including Bass Camp Festival Inc, Bass Camp Music Inc, PR Entertainment Inc, PRE Presents LLC, and PRE Presents L.L.C. Additionally, Reder, his sister Phyllis Weiner, his niece Carolyn Weiner, The Loft partner Matthew Stegemiller, and Nick Rogers, who succeeded Reder as president, are also cleared of charges.
However, the allegations against Columbia Sussex Corporation and Columbia Sussex Management remain intact. These companies own the Horizon Casino Resort, where the plaintiff, as a minor, was employed after Reder allegedly initiated a relationship with him.
The original complaint invoked the Trafficking Victims’ Protection Act and the Sexual Abuse and Cover Up Accountability Act, asserting that Reder exploited financial opportunities, including the casino job, to coerce the plaintiff into an abusive relationship. The lawsuit claims that Reder’s co-defendants “knew, or should have known” about his actions.
The latest court filing does not clarify why the plaintiff chose to dismiss the charges against the other defendants. A spokesperson for Bass Camp Festival did not respond to inquiries from EDM Identity regarding the possibility of Reder or any co-defendants testifying in the case against the casino’s owners.
