Hi Jacob, thanks for joining us today! Before we discuss your current projects, let’s explore your beginnings in electronic music. How did you first get exposed to this genre, and what artists inspired you early on?
I was introduced to EDM at a young age, exploring various genres from house to techno. A pivotal moment was when my cousin played Daft Punk’s “One More Time” for me when I was six; it blew my mind. I grew up listening to Daft Punk, Kaskade, Skrillex, and deadmau5. I distinctly remember my mom buying me my first deadmau5 album, 4×4=12, in middle school, which deepened my love for EDM.
What inspired your transition from being a raver to becoming a DJ and producer? Did a specific moment ignite this passion?
Looking at the present, you recently wrapped up your final show of the year at Plur Eventz’s Winter Fantasy at Catch One. How was that experience?
I felt both excited and nervous. Playing bass events can make me anxious, but I was ready. Initially unsure of what to expect, I focused on delivering an unforgettable show. As my set progressed, the crowd grew from small to full, and watching them headbang, sing, and mosh was exhilarating.
You participated in numerous shows throughout 2024. Which one stands out as the most impactful, where you felt a strong connection with the audience?
My most memorable show was my main stage debut at We Love Kandy at Catch One in LA on August 17. It was a culmination of a year’s hard work honing my craft, style, and productions.
Playing my edit of “Dominate x dashstar* x Work” alongside my track “Ready,” I witnessed the crowd react with pure excitement, jumping and dancing. It was surreal, and the moment I locked eyes with my friends, one of them exclaimed, “You created this; look at the crowd!” It’s a memory I will always cherish!
As someone deeply involved in the Southern California scene, how do you view its current state, from big festivals to the underground? Is there anything you feel could improve?
Both aspects are thriving. Although the underground scene sometimes faces negativity, it’s filled with talented artists who deserve the spotlight. I’m passionate about supporting local and underground talent.
I hope there will be a mini festival dedicated to underground artists in the future, a platform for individuals like John Jose, Houseroll, Nar, Alexa Gaxi, X ray, Pvtry Never Stops, and others to shine. These are the artists I admired most when I began my journey in the underground scene.
Your track “Ready” was released earlier this year, featuring energetic bass house vibes mixed with dirty electro sounds. Can you share your production process for this track?
I aimed to create something unique that would energize listeners and evoke the feeling of being at a festival, ready to jump and dance. While producing, I tapped into my raver mindset, envisioning how I would react to this song in a festival atmosphere, which guided the beat, drums, and bass until it all fell into place.
Do you have plans for new music releases next year?
Absolutely! I have a plethora of new music planned for 2025, including original tracks and edits.
For a bit of fun, if you could do a back-to-back set with any artist, who would it be and why?
There are many artists I’d love to collaborate with, but I’d choose Habstrakt or Joyryde for a dream B2B set because they both inspired my journey as a bass house artist.
With 2024 winding down, what are your goals for 2025?
After a fantastic year, my goal for 2025 is to release more new music and continue refining my craft in the studio. I have several shows lined up for next year, and I aspire to perform at my first Insomniac event, whether it’s a club or festival. My team and I are excited and ready for what 2025 has in store!
