Fatboy Slim Hasn’t Released an Album in 20 Years: Will He Ever Again?

Fatboy Slim, the iconic DJ, has remained a significant presence in the music scene, touring worldwide and captivating audiences nearly three decades after adopting his legendary stage name. However, his approach to music production has changed dramatically, as recent comments indicate he may not return to creating original albums.

During an interview with The Sun while performing in Somerset, Fatboy Slim, whose real name is Norman Cook, expressed a lack of motivation to create new music. He stated, “You can’t make music unless you’re absolutely passionate about it and it drives you from the moment you wake up in the morning. I just don’t seem to feel like that anymore. I feel that way about DJing and organizing events, but my passion for making music has faded.”

Cook’s last full-length album, Palookaville, was released in 2004. Despite this, he has not completely stepped away from releasing new material. He has enjoyed success with singles such as “Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat” in 2013 and “Where U Iz” in 2017. Earlier in 2024, he released “Role Model” featuring Dan Diamond and “Bus Stop Please” with Daniel Steinberg.

“My last two singles came from live shows,” Cook noted. “They were tracks I created just for my sets. I had unique tunes that resonated with the audience, and we realized we could clear the samples and release them.”

Almost a year ago, Cook announced an EP titled Best Of Remixes, which featured a remix of “Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat” by Bruno Martini.
