Community Rallies for Victim’s Family After Stabbing at Downtown Los Angeles Party
The Los Angeles electronic dance music scene is mourning the tragic loss of a woman fatally stabbed outside a downtown warehouse party.
The victim has been identified as Amanda, affectionately known as “Dandy Mandi” among her friends in the nightlife community. Family members report that she was stabbed multiple times at 1 AM on Sunday, January 26 by a man who had been removed from an event hosted by Space Yacht, CYBER RODEO, and UNDERWAR3 before being pepper-sprayed by security personnel.
“We are heartbroken over the loss of our community member, Mandi,” stated a joint message from the three event promoters. “The victim’s family has established a GoFundMe, which can be found at @JusticeForMandi. We kindly ask you to donate and share the GoFundMe.”
As reported on the @JusticeForMandi account, Amanda had attended the after party with her brother and friends. It is alleged that her brother was attacked by two or three men, and Amanda was stabbed while trying to assist him. Witnesses described the assailant as wearing all black, while another individual was seen in a navy bomber jacket with a white collar lining and glasses.
In light of this incident, Los Angeles promoter FEVER has committed to enhancing security and medical presence at their events, incorporating metal detectors at entry points, and enforcing a zero-tolerance policy. Local group The LA Raver plans to adopt similar measures.
This violent event is not an isolated incident. In October, a gathering organized by techno promoters SXTCY and CLOSER was evacuated after gunfire erupted outside during a confrontation involving security personnel and an individual who had been removed from the event.
The GoFundMe campaign for Amanda’s family has currently raised nearly $20,000 toward its $30,000 goal. Contributions can be made via GoFundMe.
