Footage from a nearby business reveals details of Amanda Torres’ stabbing outside a Downtown Los Angeles after party, now in the hands of law enforcement.
Justice may be closer for the murder of Amanda Torres, as video evidence of the man suspected of fatally stabbing her early Sunday morning has been submitted to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the tragedy unfolded outside an after party in Downtown Los Angeles organized by Space Yacht, CYBER RODEO, and UNDERWAR3, where the suspect was reportedly removed. Witnesses noted that Torres’ brother became involved in a confrontation with two or three men, and she was stabbed while trying to intervene. Emergency responders arrived shortly before 1 AM, only to find her unresponsive with a stab wound to her neck, and they were unable to revive her.
Newly released footage of the incident may assist authorities in identifying Torres’ killer. In an Instagram Story, the home and business surveillance company Discounted Security Cameras shared a brief clip showing the moments leading up to the stabbing, recorded by a client nearby. The video depicts the suspect approaching a small group of people.
According to KTLA, the remainder of the footage illustrates the suspect targeting Torres before stabbing her in the neck and fleeing the scene. Torres collapsed while clutching her neck as her friends stood in shock.
Law enforcement describes the suspect as a Latino male in his 30s, with dark hair and brown eyes, approximately 5’6″ tall and weighing around 180 pounds. He was last seen running east on Santa Monica Boulevard, heading towards the Vermont/Santa Monica MTA station.
Amanda Torres, affectionately known in nightlife circles as Dandy Mandi, was a UCLA graduate and activist, as reported by ABC7. She was deeply committed to numerous social causes, including recent efforts for fire relief in Los Angeles.
