Dutch duo ANOTR’s 14-track album On A Trip explores new musical horizons, drawing inspiration from their travels over the past two years.
The Dutch duo ANOTR has been busy, hosting their NO ART festival in iconic locations such as Ibiza, Amsterdam, and Miami, along with releasing tracks on various labels including Solid Grooves and their own imprint. Known for pushing the boundaries of house music, their second album, On A Trip, incorporates elements of disco, trippy alt-soul, raw post-punk, and upbeat indie dance, creating a unique blend.
ANOTR has cultivated a reputation for emotionally resonant house music that connects with audiences worldwide. However, with On A Trip, the duo ventures into fresh territory. This album reflects a deeply personal journey, capturing moments of reflection and creative freedom experienced during immersive retreats. From the tranquil landscapes of the Netherlands to the vibrant atmospheres of Los Angeles and Ibiza, these experiences served as a backdrop for experimentation and self-discovery.
During their retreats, members Jesse van der Heijden and Oguzhan Guney (Oz) took time away from touring and industry pressures to reconnect with their creative core. Surrounded by nature, friends, and fellow artists, they embraced vulnerability, using microdosing and deep conversations to fuel their musical growth. This process led to the incorporation of live instrumentation and the introduction of their vocals for the first time, adding an intimate touch to tracks like “SET IT ON FIRE.”
Collaboration plays a significant role in the 14-track album, featuring artists such as Leven Kali, Tyler Dali, and GRAMMY-nominated Cimafunk. The track “Falling Feels Like Flying” with Kabusa Oriental Choir exemplifies their willingness to step outside their comfort zone. The album maintains a danceable vibe throughout, ensuring a fun listening experience.
To celebrate the release, ANOTR has planned a global tour to showcase the album in club settings. Following a successful performance at ADE, the energy shared on social media was truly unique. Fans can look forward to the ANOTR Presents On A Trip tour at Factory Town during Miami Music Week, at Savaya in Bali, and numerous other dates in the first half of this year. The duo is just getting started in 2025.
