Alesso Reveals How Tinnitus Impacted His Concert Schedule and Led to Show Cancellations

“I took this as a sign to slow down,” said Alesso about waking up with a loud ringing in his ears.

Alesso, the renowned Swedish DJ and producer, has recently faced significant health challenges, prompting him to cancel shows in December and January. The artist has opened up about his battle with tinnitus, which has greatly impacted his career.

In an effort to be transparent, Alesso, whose real name is Alessandro Lindblad, shared his experience on Instagram. He described waking up two months ago to an overwhelming ringing in his ears at a level of 10 out of 10. “I was in complete shock. It was not after a show; I just woke up and it was so intense,” he revealed.

Although Lindblad has dealt with ear ringing previously, he admitted that this episode was particularly challenging. “I know it’s super common in the music industry, but I had a really, really difficult time dealing with this,” he confessed.

Fortunately for his supporters, Alesso confirmed that he has no intention of stepping away from touring completely. “The good news is I’m getting better,” he mentioned, noting that he still plans to perform at the Ultra Music Festival. “I will be doing shows, but maybe not as many, as you can understand.”

Lindblad, who gained fame through his collaboration with Swedish House Mafia’s Sebastian Ingrosso on the 2011 hit “Calling,” is not alone in prioritizing health over touring. Recently, The Blessed Madonna canceled South American tour dates due to “ongoing, serious medical reasons,” and Marauda also canceled his shows to focus on mental health.

In closing, Lindblad used his experience to encourage others to take precautions. “I want everyone to be careful, wear ear protection, remember that we’re only humans,” he said.
