Nocturnal Wonderland Cancels Upcoming Edition Due to Wildfires

News

Insomniac has canceled the upcoming edition of Nocturnal Wonderland due to the Line Fire and Bridge Fire, which continue to rage near Glen Helen Regional Park.

Late last week, a wildfire erupted in San Bernardino County that quickly spread with limited containment throughout the weekend. An ongoing heatwave paired with thunderstorms in the area proved problematic for firefighters trying to contain the blaze. This caused concern for those planning to attend Nocturnal Wonderland this weekend at Glen Helen Regional Park, 15 miles East of the Line Fire.

Insomniac initially released a statement that the festival was cleared to proceed, but in the past 36 hours, a new fire, the Bridge Fire, began to blaze out of control with no containment on the West side of the venue. This caused even more concern among attendees, and today, Insomniac has officially canceled Nocturnal Wonderland in a new update posted to social media.

“The health and safety of festival attendees and staff is our highest priority,” reads the statement from Insomniac. “After further discussions with local authorities, due to the impact of the fires surrounding the venue, we will be unable to proceed with Nocturnal Wonderland.”

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the fires throughout San Bernardino and Southern California. We understand the importance of ensuring that local resources are fully dedicated to managing the fires and protecting the surrounding communities.

Insomniac stated that more information will be posted on their official channels in the coming days regarding how the dance music community can come together to support firefighters and those displaced or affected by the fires. Refunds will also be given to those who held passes to the festival, and emails will be sent to those who purchased passes.

This year was set to mark the 29th edition of Nocturnal Wonderland, Insomniac’s longest-running festival and the longest-running electronic music festival in North America. Artists including Kaskade, SVDDEN DEATH, Green Velvet, RL Grime, Noizu, KAYZO, Slander, and more were slated to play.

The fires raging throughout Southern California can be tracked via Cal Fire’s official website.
