Mild Minds formalizes sophomore album, ‘GEMINI,’ on Foreign Family CollectiveMM HORIZ HQ

Melbourne-based indie-electronic artist Mild Minds, whose real name is Benjamin David, has officially released his sophomore studio album, GEMINI, under the prestigious label ODESZA‘s Foreign Family Collective. The album features nine fresh dance tracks, mirroring the number of songs on David’s debut album, MOOD, released in 2020. GEMINI showcases a diverse range of electronic sub-genres while maintaining a coherent sonic identity.

The album kicks off with “I NEED U,” merging trance-inspired synths and future bass-style vocal samples, all built upon intricate drum-and-bass rhythms. In contrast, “TEARDROPS” delves into tech-house drumming and stutter house synth work. The listening journey remains seamless, avoiding any disruptions that might feel out of place. By revitalizing early 2000s club music through an emotional lens, the GRAMMY-nominated producer’s latest project features two standout collaborations: “1 DAY 2 LATE” with fellow Melbourne musician Juno Mamba, and “IN YOUR EYES,” featuring edapollo. David expressed his thoughts in a press statement, stating,

“But taking the plunge into my own project—something I was often discouraged from pursuing—has been seriously transformative. Seeing it resonate has been incredibly fulfilling and given me a newfound confidence and freedom.”

Having launched the GEMINI tour on February 7th at The Atlantis in Washington, D.C., Mild Minds is set to perform three shows in Canada before returning to the U.S. for additional dates.
