Barcelona Club Moog Staff Allegedly Assault Attendees: Investigation Underway

News

After allegations against a Moog security guard, multiple attendees have come forward with similar claims.

Barcelona’s renowned techno venue, Moog, is facing scrutiny following accusations that its security personnel have employed excessive force against patrons.

Last month, one attendee launched an Instagram account with the handle @abusomoog, aimed at sharing both anonymous and verified accounts of alleged abuse. They kicked off the account with their own experience, stating that on February 3, a guard disregarded their report about another attendee harassing them, only to later forcefully eject them from the venue when they attempted to defend themselves.

Shortly after, the account shared an anonymous testimony from someone who claimed they were permanently banned from Moog for intervening to protect a fellow attendee from a man they believed was trying to drug her. Another account alleges that they witnessed a security guard using excessive force against an individual outside the club, which included a video of the guard running towards the person filming.

Moog, which has been a staple of the Barcelona nightlife scene since 1996, has yet to respond to EDM Identity’s request for comment. Reactions on @abusomoog’s posts vary, with some criticizing attendees for not reporting incidents to the police and others asserting that the club has neglected to address instances of excessive force by its staff.

Despite the unique atmosphere that techno clubs offer compared to mainstream nightlife, various safety concerns can arise in these settings. Recently, Berlin’s State Criminal Police Office began investigating an alleged rape that occurred in the bathroom of Berghain’s Panorama bar.
