KROQ’s Helpful Honda Sound Space Hosts Justice in Hollywood
On Monday, March 3, the heart of Hollywood witnessed an exclusive gathering of music industry enthusiasts and fortunate fans at The Spotlight. Iconic French electro house duo Justice performed in an intimate setting, reminiscent of a living room stage. The evening commenced with sets from Ed Banger Records founder Busy P and KROQ’s own Miles The DJ.
As electronic music continues to permeate mainstream culture, KROQ is adapting to this trend. In October, they unveiled KROQ/EQ, a weekly show dedicated to blending festival hits with KROQ classics.

Just prior to their exclusive DJ set, Justice’s collaboration “Neverender” with Tame Impala topped the alternative radio charts from February 23 to March 1, making them a fitting choice to celebrate KROQ/EQ’s launch. Anzaldo noted that KROQ had been tracking Justice for some time, having previously supported their music and interviewed them at Coachella in 2024. He reminisced about spinning their track “Neverender” from the album HYPERDRAMA last summer. “It’s such a vibey, summery SoCal record,” he shared.
Another KROQ team member highlighted that the Helpful Honda Sound Space typically occurs at a private sound stage. However, this time, at Justice’s suggestion, the event was relocated to The Spotlight, a vibrant club in Hollywood.
Justice aimed for the event to embody its natural setting: the dancefloor. This innovative approach was a first for the Helpful Honda Sound Space, and attendees praised the execution.
Among the audience was Alan Takagi, manager of LA artist Drew Holly, who stated, “I discovered Justice in 2008 when a fraternity friend introduced me to them, and since then, I’ve seen them at Lollapalooza and backstage at Coachella. I would travel the world to see Justice.”
As the duo took the stage, the sound intensified, the bass deepened, and the dancefloor quickly became crowded, creating an electric atmosphere.
The energy was palpable, filled with industry insiders and loyal Justice fans. The small yet enthusiastic crowd drew closer to the stage, with even the security guard nodding along to the rhythm. Busy P flashed a peace sign as Justice led the audience on an unforgettable musical journey. Spotlight-branded bottle baskets danced across the stage.
During the performance, I met Josh, founder of mental health nonprofit When the Music Stops, who described it as his “best Monday ever” in an Instagram story after the show.
An attendee later suggested that I venture into the center of the dance floor, comparing the experience to Woodstock. I took their advice and was swept away by the captivating electronic symphony, emphasizing the venue’s intimacy.
Gazing upward from my dancing bliss, I saw Justice just a few feet away, allowing me to catch their expressions and movements. Even before their set, Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay were casually present at a nearby table.
According to a Reddit comment from a fellow enthusiast, Justice’s mashup of “Short Dick Man” and “Incognito” became a crowd favorite. As the night progressed, Gaspard shared a bottle of mezcal with the audience until it was emptied. At the conclusion of their set, Busy P took the mic and encouraged, “Los Angeles, show some love to Justice!” Fans erupted in applause, surrounding the DJ booth with memorabilia to sign, including stickers, zines, artwork, and even a baseball.
Dressed in his signature red flannel and Nirvana T-shirt, Busy P (aka Pedro Winter, DJ and former manager of Daft Punk) addressed the ecstatic crowd in his distinctive French accent: “I hope you all had a wonderful night, Los Angeles. We’ll see you soon!”
KROQ is reaffirming its presence in Los Angeles’s dynamic electronic dance music scene. KROQ/EQ represents not just a new radio show but a transformative shift in the relationship between alternative rock and dance music.
