On his latest EP, My Pure Soul, Khen explores deep emotional landscapes and pays a heartfelt tribute to his late father.
From an early age, Israeli DJ and producer Khen was captivated by the pulsating rhythms and dynamic energy of dance music. His brother, who became his guiding force in the world of electronic music, helped him refine his skills and discover his unique artistic identity. Over the years, Khen has developed a distinctive sound that fuses modern techno house beats with early 2000s progressive influences, establishing himself on renowned labels such as Sudbeat, Lost & Found, Vivrant, and Bedrock. As he continues to solidify his presence in the vibrant Tel Aviv electronic music scene, Khen makes his label debut with All Day I Dream through the emotionally rich three-track EP, My Pure Soul.
My Pure Soul is a profoundly personal homage to his late father, taking listeners on an introspective journey that intertwines memories of the past with the present. The loss of his father created a significant void in Khen’s life, but it also became a powerful source of inspiration for his music. He channeled his grief and emotions into his work, capturing the delicate balance of vulnerability and resilience that accompanies the healing process.
“This past year has been particularly challenging for me,” Khen reflected. “I tend to keep my personal life private and express it through my music. This track, My Pure Soul, is dedicated to my father, Yosef. You always brought the party to life, and you’ll forever be with me in every moment. I miss you, Aba.”
The EP opens with the title track, featuring enchanting melodies and driving grooves. Khen gradually builds layers of depth and emotion through lush synths, guiding listeners on an evocative sonic journey that lasts over seven minutes. The next track, “Lyup,” introduces thumping bass stabs and sultry vocal chops, oscillating between comforting memories of the past and hints of the future. Concluding the EP, “Uchi Mata” combines melodic and slightly heavier techno elements, showcasing Khen’s innovative sound design.
