Carlo Lio and M.I.T.A. revive Chasing Ghosts on Carl Cox’s Intec, reinvigorating the iconic label after five years of dormancy.
Rewind to 1998, when Carl Cox inaugurated his label, Intec, known for delivering colossal techno hits that have been celebrated globally. After a four-year break in 2006, it made a comeback in 2010, only to pause again in 2020 following another decade of success. Now, after a five-year hiatus, Carl Cox has revitalized the label, enlisting Carlo Lio and M.I.T.A. to usher in this new chapter.
Intec has consistently aimed to highlight floor-filling tracks from both established and emerging techno artists, making Carlo Lio and M.I.T.A. ideal contributors for the label. Canadian DJ Carlo Lio has built a solid reputation with remarkable releases on Tronic, Suara, and his own Rawthentic Music, while M.I.T.A. has also left his mark on Tronic and Suara, in addition to working with Uncage, Virgo, and others, known for his captivating soundscapes.
For their Intec release, the duo has collaborated on the Chasing Ghosts EP, which features three distinct tracks that explore various facets of techno. The title track bursts with relentless energy, setting the tone for peak-time excitement. “AFREAKA!” centers on deep, tribal drums complemented by groovy undertones that draw listeners in. They conclude the collection with “The Artist’s Struggle,” which combines vocals and an ethereal ambiance, perfect for late-night dancefloor vibes.
