Layton Giordani Unveils a Techno Remix to Honor the 15th Anniversary of Deadmau5’s Strobe
Renowned for his contributions to the techno scene, Layton Giordani has released an exciting new remix of deadmau5’s iconic track “Strobe”, which recently celebrated its 15th anniversary following its debut in September 2009.
Celebrating a Milestone Anniversary
Time certainly flies, and for electronic music fans, the 15-year milestone of Strobe is a notable reminder of the genre’s evolution. Released on September 3, 2009, by Joel Zimmerman—better known as deadmau5—on his label Mau5trap, Strobe has become a hallmark in electronic dance music, significantly elevating the progressive house subgenre. This track not only achieved commercial success but also has remained a favorite for many, making its anniversary a perfect occasion for a fresh tribute. Layton Giordani, a pivotal figure in new-wave techno and affiliated with the Drumcode label, was an ideal choice for this remix. Fascinatingly, the track was initially known as “Then We Stood Still”. Reflecting on the track, Layton shared, “Strobe is undoubtedly one of my favourite dance records of all time, and it was one of the first that got me into electronic music.”
Exploring the Techno Remix
As one of deadmau5’s most acclaimed tracks, Strobe has previously seen remixes from notable electronic artists such as KREAM, Lane 8, and Feed Me (Jon Gooch). Now, Layton Giordani brings a fresh techno remix to the forefront, officially released on deadmau5’s label on September 13. Layton expressed his feelings about the remix: “It’s tough to put into words how amazing it is to remix this track. Deadmau5 was the first big artist to play my techno records when I was starting out, and to have the opportunity to put my own spin on this is really special. I know my younger self would be proud.” With a revitalized beat tailored for the dance floor, this remix makes a solid appeal for techno enthusiasts. Furthermore, deadmau5 is currently on tour, celebrating his 25th anniversary with the “retro5pective” tour, for which tickets are available on his official website.
