Typhoon Bebinica Hits East China Sea, Leading to the Cancellation of EDC China 2024
In light of the devastating wildfires affecting Southern California, Insomniac has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s edition of Nocturnal Wonderland. Similarly, EDC China, set to take place September 15-16, has also fallen victim to the forces of nature due to the imminent arrival of Typhoon Bebinica.
Typhoon Bebinica intensified significantly as it entered the East China Sea late Saturday night, according to reports. The New York Times indicates that the typhoon has sustained winds of up to 75 miles per hour, ranking it as a Category 1 hurricane in the Atlantic. Although the storm is currently affecting Southern Japanese islands, Eastern China should prepare for its strong winds and heavy rainfall starting Sunday morning.
As a precaution, Suzhou, the host city of EDC China located west of Shanghai, has activated its Typhoon Defense Emergency plan. Insomniac is abiding by this decision, expressing, “We understand how much this festival means to you, and we share in your disappointment,” on Instagram. “The energy and enthusiasm of our community make EDC special, and we were genuinely excited to celebrate together.”
