Following the success of August’s standout release Titled / Larry and the Drum Machine, West Midlands DJ and producer Tromino is back with a powerful double release, Silver Lines / Protect [2024], set to drop on 11th October.
Much like a domino with its two equal halves, when you tune into Tromino, you experience a captivating trio of influences—Detroit, Chicago, and Acid House—perfectly balanced and integrated. His signature ‘Power of 3’ approach has resonated widely across the club scene, earning him praise from industry giants including Da La Swing, Joyce Muniz, Cevin Fisher, Nic Fanciulli, Jamie Jones, and Disciples. Notably, Tromino’s profound impact on the industry even landed him a feature in Bill Brewster’s essential guide, How To DJ Properly, alongside Carl Cox.
The first track, Silver Lines, kicks off with a heavy, soulful drumline, featuring a minimoog-inspired kick bass paired with a crisp hi-hat and an irresistible tom rhythm. The composition of Silver Lines evolves every four bars, ensuring an energetic dancefloor experience. As the track builds towards an electrifying breakdown, you can truly appreciate the intensity of live performance, where you feel the rhythm as much as you hear it.
Tromino shares insights: “Silver Lines has a rich dub feel, crafted from samples provided by Mella Dee. The parts he released from Devon Analog Studios brought a full-bodied texture that defines the groove, accented by classic 90’s pads.
The second track, Protect [2024], launches with an aggressive, intricately crafted beat that commands your attention, quickly building into a dynamic groove thanks to its killer bassline. With chopped vocal snippets and a soaring synth line, Protect seamlessly transports listeners back to the ecstasy of ‘90s dance floors. It embodies pure enjoyment, tailored specifically for the vibrant atmosphere of club nightlife.
Tromino elaborates: ‘The original version of Protect was released during the lockdown and received solid support from artists like John Digweed, Darren Emerson, and Solardo. However, Protect was always intended for lively dancefloors, not virtual sessions, so I’ve reworked it to fit the club vibe perfectly.
Just as you store away your festival gear, Protect [2024] arrives, reimagined for high-energy club sound systems, welcoming you back to the pulsating dancefloors with open arms.
If you’re planning to spin a set or two this autumn, don’t miss adding Silver Lines / Protect [2024] to your collection. Crank up the volume and invite your friends over; this is the soundtrack for Autumn 2024.
