Prior to his Southern California performances, we connected with Rooler to explore his journey in the music industry, delve into Reddit discussions, and much more!
Italian hardstyle is rich with legends, showcasing a genre that combines the raw essence of hardstyle with Italy’s innovative artistry, resulting in iconic tracks. One standout artist challenging the conventional limits of hardstyle is Rooler, who brings a fresh perspective with each release while remaining true to his origins.
From humble beginnings as a bedroom producer to electrifying audiences at landmark events like the Defqon.1 Weekend Festival and co-founding Aggressive Records alongside Sickmode, Rooler has firmly established his place at the pinnacle of the industry. He initially won over fans with tracks such as “Aggressive Acts,” “Survive The Street,” and “YES!.”
Recently, Rooler has made waves in the scene with viral tracks like “TOO COLD,” “MOVE 2 DA BEAT,” and “CLUB BANGER.” His dynamic sound has captivated audiences globally, leading to increased calls for promoters to bring him to the U.S.
In March 2024, fans were eager for Rooler’s anticipated appearance at Basscon Wasteland — or so they believed. However, a lineup leak prompted Basscon to clarify that Rooler would not be attending America’s leading hard dance festival.
This may have turned out to be fortuitous. Just a few months later, Rooler was set to dominate Southern California with back-to-back shows in San Diego and Los Angeles.
Not wanting to miss Rooler’s highly awaited U.S. debut, my partner and I embarked on an eight-hour journey to Southern California for two unforgettable performances. Rooler showcased his signature DJ sets, which felt spontaneous yet distinctly his own. Each night offered a unique experience, a detail I valued as a long-time fan. Furthermore, Rooler stayed true to his artistic vision without compromising for the U.S. crowd, unlike some artists who adjust their sets for accessibility.
Before his SoCal takeover, we spoke with Rooler about his career, insights into the music industry, and the workings of Aggressive Records, along with engaging with some Reddit comments. Be sure to press play for the full interview on YouTube and keep an eye out for Rooler’s upcoming solo track, “WELCOME 2 DA RECORDSHOP,” set to release on November 7!
