Discover ZOYA’s Emotional Journey with ‘Eternity’
Artists are inspired by a variety of motivations when creating albums, but for ZOYA, the journey was unexpected. The inception of her debut LP, ‘Eternity’, traces back to her poignant track ‘When Heaven Calls’, which emerged from a devastating personal loss three years ago.
ZOYA shares: “In 2021, I lost my mother to Covid. It happened very suddenly, and it brought into perspective just how short and transient everything is. My grief was so great that nothing made sense anymore. I found solace only in music – it saved me! I created the first track of the following series, titling it ‘When Heaven Calls’, which is dedicated to mom. My inspiration grew from that piece of music into a full album. Each track on it carries its own story and individual emotional thread, creating a tapestry of my journey through grief and healing.
Through my music, I aim to connect with others on an emotional level, allowing them to share in the experience and find comfort. My narrative serves as a testament to the enduring power of love expressed through art. I chose the title ‘Eternity’ because I wanted to share a piece of myself with you. Music is eternal, and even when I am no longer here, my soul will resonate through my tracks – a part of the ‘Eternity’.”
The release of ZOYA’s album marks a significant milestone in what has been a transformative year for her. She made her debut vinyl release with ‘In Search Of Sunrise 20’, played in numerous new cities and countries, and remixed prominent artists, including Markus Schulz.
For attentive listeners, the emotional weight of ZOYA’s experience is woven throughout the thirteen tracks of the album. Songs like ‘Gone’, ‘Endless’, and the title track ‘Eternity’ poignantly reflect the grief that inspired its creation. However, it also serves as a celebration of life, providing a cathartic listening experience filled with heartfelt melodies and intricate production. The album flows seamlessly from start to finish, reminiscent of a live ZOYA set where each piece beautifully complements the next.
In moments where words may falter, ‘Eternity’ embraces instrumental storytelling. Tracks like the progressively driven ‘Gravity’, the flowing harmonies of ‘Riverside’, and her latest single, the Balearic-inspired ‘Crystal Cove’, showcase her diverse style. These compositions amplify the emotional resonance of her vocal tracks. ‘Gone’ captivates from its opening line, while ‘One [We’d Be Love]’ is as tenderly sung as ‘Free’ (featuring FACTORe & SCHROEDS) is dramatic and energetic. With ZOYA taking on most of the production herself, collaborations are rare on ‘Eternity’. Notably, ‘Freya’ features a reunion with Nourey, drawing inspiration from the Norse goddess of love and beauty. The album concludes with ‘Purple Skies’, a pulsating, meditative track created in collaboration with Dennis Sheperd.
ZOYA’s ‘Eternity’ provides the producer and DJ with an album launchpad she may not have initially envisioned but was always destined to create. Set for release on December 6, you can pre-order or save it now at https://blackhole.lnk.to/eternityalbum.
