Marshmello, Steve Aoki, and other artists reportedly misused pandemic relief grant money

Marshmello, Steve Aoki, and several other artists have been accused of misappropriating millions of dollars allocated to them through pandemic relief grant funds, as reported in a recent investigation by Business Insider.

The Shuttered Venue Operators Grant program was established to support independent venues and arts organizations struggling during the pandemic. According to the investigation, Marshmello, whose real name is Christopher Comstock, received a grant of $9.9 million. When the Small Business Administration (SBA) requested documentation on how the funds were utilized, Marshmello’s business manager indicated that Comstock had taken the entire amount for personal use.

Additionally, Business Insider highlighted that Steve Aoki’s loan-out company, DJ Kid Millionaire Touring, reported expenditures of $2.4 million for payroll and $1.9 million for officer compensation, with Aoki being the sole officer of the company.

As of now, neither Marshmello nor Aoki has publicly responded to the investigation’s findings.
