Hi COHN! Thank you for joining us today! We’re thrilled to have you. Let’s start with your background and the origins of your music career. When did you first dive into electronic music and the scene? How did your DJ journey begin?

Thank you for having me! Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I began DJing with vinyl around 16 or 17. I fell into house music around the age of 20 and have been producing and performing ever since. My career has had its ups and downs, but 2023 was a turning point when I released an EP on Mister T Records, which sparked renewed momentum. It’s been an exhilarating ride.

With over a decade in the industry, how would you describe your musical evolution? What key moments have influenced your current direction?

Key moments include realizing my desire to craft steady sample-based house music that grooves effortlessly on the dance floor. Another turning point was understanding the challenges of getting records signed with obvious samples, prompting me to take a more creative approach, which reflects the ’80s and ’90s sounds you hear in my work now.

You’ve been part of London’s music scene for quite some time. How has the local scene impacted your career? Do you have any memorable experiences from London’s venues that stand out?

I cherish the London scene, having explored numerous vibrant pockets across the city. However, as I age, it feels increasingly overwhelming. I’ve enjoyed traveling across Europe over the past two years, discovering smaller scenes in beautiful cities that may lack London’s reach but make up for it in passion and creativity (not to mention often better food and weather).

Your latest EP, Focus On Your Breath, presents a captivating mix of Italo Disco, acid, and progressive/tech influences. It seems to draw from various eras of dance music while maintaining a modern feel. How do you navigate honoring classic styles while exploring new possibilities in electronic music?

I utilize a variety of vintage drum machines and synths, similar to many artists. However, once I establish the core concept, I avoid getting trapped in “traditional” house music styles, opting instead to experiment with diverse ideas to keep the sound fresh. During intense production sessions, I refrain from listening to house music so I don’t overthink my unique sound.

With such a varied style in your latest tracks, what do you hope listeners derive from your music? Is there a particular emotional or physical reaction you aim to evoke?

This EP is designed to pay tribute to those unforgettable nights in clubs or festivals where you lose yourself in the rhythm. Each track represents a different phase of the night: the first serves as a midnight warm-up, the second captures the peak energy, and the third energizes the late-night crowd.

As we approach 2025, are there any collaborations or projects on the horizon that excite you?

I have some exciting collaborations lined up! I’m particularly looking forward to an upcoming EP with the legendary Midnight People in London, along with more releases through my label, Butter & Wine.

Lastly, what are you most looking forward to in the new year—upcoming performances, new projects, or personal growth in your music career?

I’m eager to dive back into production. I experienced some burnout at the end of summer, which prevented me from creating much over the past few months. I can’t wait to regain that creative spark and produce something unexpected.
