Alesso Cancels Kuala Lumpur Performance Amid Health Concerns
Malaysian promoter Livescape has announced via social media that Alesso will not be performing in Kuala Lumpur on January 17. This cancellation extends to all remaining dates on his current tour.
According to Livescape, “This decision follows medical recommendations after an intense touring schedule, as Alesso has been advised to take a much-needed break to focus on his health.” This marks the first time in Alesso’s 14-year career that he has had to cancel a tour.
The statement further emphasizes, “Touring is both exhilarating and demanding, often placing significant strain on performing artists’ physical and mental health. While their dedication to fans fuels unforgettable experiences, maintaining their health is essential for a sustainable career. We fully support Alesso during this time and wish him a speedy recovery.”
Before the Kuala Lumpur show, Alesso (real name Alessandro Lindblad) was scheduled to perform at Belly Up Aspen in Aspen, Colorado, on January 14. It remains uncertain if he will proceed with his March 30 performance at Ultra Music Festival in Miami or his April 4 appearance at SILO in Dallas.
Interestingly, this recent wave of cancellations is not the first for Lindblad. Last month, he canceled performances at the Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney editions of Kygo’s Palm Tree Festival, as well as MDLBEAST Soundstorm in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The topic of burnout from demanding touring schedules has gained traction in the EDM community, especially following the release of the Avicii documentary, I’m Tim. In 2021, Lindblad shared insights about his relationship with the late Avicii and his own struggles with the pressures of touring in an interview with Haute Living.
At EDM Identity, we wish Alesso a restorative break from touring so that he can return with renewed energy and purpose.
