Ministry of Sound Launches URGE: A New Tech House Experience

London’s renowned Ministry of Sound is set to redefine the nightlife scene with the introduction of URGE, an exhilarating underground celebration dedicated to the raw and edgy world of tech house music. The inaugural event is scheduled for Saturday, February 1st, featuring a stellar lineup that includes David Squillace, Cuartero, Rennie Peters, Jan, Sanne Dammers, Travis Casa, Metronomy’s Olugbenga, and Batida Perfeita.

URGE caters to the dedicated and passionate late-night dancers, stripping away the excess to focus solely on the core of tech house—a genre that originated in London’s vibrant clubs during the 90s. The events promise an immersive experience with authentic, gritty beats from the underground, paired with a minimalist and atmospheric production that allows the music to take precedence, fostering genuine connections between DJs and attendees.

The kickoff event will feature the iconic tech house innovator Davide Squillace, founder of the This And That label. Joining him is the acclaimed Spanish DJ Cuartero, known for his sharp edge in the scene. The lineup also includes Rennie Peters from the INLV crew, DJ Olugbenga from Metronomy, Dutch selector Sanne Dammers, as well as EDD, Travis Casa, and Batida Perfeita.

This celebration of tech house and techno will span all five rooms of the Ministry of Sound, which has recently undergone renovations to enhance the experience. Upgrades include a new lighting system in The 103 and a year-round canopy in the courtyard, while The Box, The Baby Box, and The Loft each maintain their distinctive atmospheres and cutting-edge audio-visual setups.

Travis Derrick, Head of Promotions & Talent at Ministry of Sound, states, “URGE shines a spotlight on the deeper aspects of tech house, house, and techno, featuring elite headliners alongside underground talent. Our aim is to reshape the tech house experience, focusing on raw and daring elements while minimizing branding to sharpen the sensory experience.”

URGE is set to become an essential addition to the Ministry of Sound’s lineup, continually pushing the boundaries of innovation in the nightlife scene. Get ready to experience the URGE.
