News

Fixeer’s unique techno sound has been featured on renowned labels such as Illegal Alien Records, Soma Records, Molecular Recordings, and Vector Functions.

Beloved DJ and producer from Mexico City, Miguel Ángel Mendoza Hernández, known in the music world as Fixeer, has passed away due to undisclosed health issues.

The London-based label Molecular Recordings announced the news of Hernández’s passing through a Facebook post on Thursday, January 23. The post states, “We woke this morning to hear the sudden death of our Molecular Recordings artist Fixeer. Condolences and strength to his family! RIP my friend.”

With two decades of experience in the music industry, Hernández had recently solidified his reputation in the techno scene. His work has been featured by influential labels including Illegal Alien Records, Soma Records, and MindTrip, as well as Vector Functions, a label led by prominent Mexico City techno artist Fixon.

In addition to performing and producing music, Hernández was dedicated to teaching music production and offered mastering services to numerous record labels. His expertise can be heard in tracks by artists such as Linear Phase, Ana Rs, Dave Wincent, and Lakej.

On January 7, Illegal Alien Records announced a special compilation to support Hernández during his “very complicated health situation.” Following this, on January 14, MindTrip label head Pfirter shared a Facebook Reel indicating that proceeds from his new remix of one of Hernández’s tracks would go towards funding his treatment.

A memorial event for Hernández took place in Mexico City from noon yesterday to midnight last night. An English translation of a Facebook post by Fixon after the gathering noted that “Miguel left peacefully,” and mentioned that “he didn’t want you to worry, so he asked us to handle it with great discretion, and it was something we respected until the end.”

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Miguel Ángel Mendoza Hernández, aka Fixeer, during this challenging time.
