Successful Liver Transplant of Dada Life’s Stefan Engblom: A Journey of Hope and Recovery

News

“I feel like I’ve been run over by a train, but I guess that was expected,” said Dada Life’s Stefan Engblom following his liver transplant operation.

Dada Life fans are breathing a collective sigh of relief today as Stefan Engblom, one half of the renowned Swedish duo, has announced that he has successfully undergone a liver transplant surgery.

In November, Engblom opened up on social media, revealing to his fans that he had been battling a rare and incurable liver disease known as primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). His condition deteriorated to a critical level, prompting doctors to inform him that a transplant was necessary for his survival. On Tuesday, he updated his followers to share that he had been matched with a donor liver.

In a follow-up Instagram post from his hospital bed yesterday, a visibly dazed Engblom revealed that the surgery had been a success. “The liver transplant went amazing, they said,” he shared. “The liver fit perfectly. I feel like I’ve been run over by a train, but I guess that was expected.”

PSC is an autoimmune disorder with an unknown cause, leading to a variety of symptoms including fever, chills, night sweats, and in severe cases, enlarged liver or spleen and significant weight loss.

Engblom, alongside his fellow Swedish artist Olle Cornéer, initially performed under the name Phasio before launching their Dada Life project in 2006. Their 2009 album Just do The Dada propelled them into the spotlight during the EDM boom of 2010-2015, resulting in chart-topping hits like “Feed The Dada” and “Kick Out the Epic Motherfucker,” and performances at major music festivals such as EDC Las Vegas and Ultra Music Festival.

Cornéer has also faced health challenges, having been diagnosed with cancer in 2014. He announced his decision to pause performing with Dada Life in 2017 due to health issues, clarifying that these concerns were not linked to his battle with cancer.

At EDM Identity, we extend our best wishes to Stefan Engblom for a swift recovery, hoping he will soon return to his passion for music.
