LP Giobbi Unveils Her First Live Album: A Celebration of Music and Community
LP Giobbi has officially released her debut live album, The Way Back Home Tour, under Ninja Tune’s label Counter Records. Accompanying this live album is The Way Back Home Tour: Live From Denver, which features a multi-camera recording from her performance at Mission Ballroom.
The The Way Back Home Tour album showcases tracks from her two studio projects, Light Places and Dotr. From the moment you hit play, you’re immersed in unique sounds crafted specifically for the The Way Back Home tour.
The live album kicks off with an intro that transitions into “Until There’s Nothing Left” from Dotr. It later combines “Waiting,” a 2023 collaboration with DJ Rae and Redfield, with “All I Need,” a track from Light Places. Additionally, fans will enjoy a notable recording of an unnamed ID paired with “Can’t Let You Go,” featuring Little Jet.
The Way Back Home Tour: Live From Denver is a groundbreaking piece of music history, capturing the essence of LP Giobbi’s performance on November 30 in Colorado. She delivers an electrifying version of “Drums in Space,” highlighting her connection to the Grateful Dead’s legacy, complemented by DOM from Big Gigantic on saxophone. An unconventional autotuned voice echoes the lyrics, “What a long, strange trip it’s been,” while the drums evolve and transform.
LP Giobbi follows this with a euphoric piano jam and a delightful guitar sample from the late Jerry Garcia. She then dives into an audacious mashup of Joy Orbison‘s “flight fm” and the iconic “Burning Down the House” by Talking Heads. LP Giobbi is undoubtedly redefining sound, infusing the dance floor with an energetic wave of hippie spirit.
As a transformative figure in dance music, LP Giobbi honors and advances the musical and communal traditions rooted in the 1960s counterculture and social movements.
