ODESZA Collaborates with Apple TV+ Series Severance to Remix the Show’s Score

In partnership with the popular Apple TV+ show Severance, ODESZA has launched a fresh take on the series’ theme song. A teaser was released the day before the mix, showcasing Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight in front of the Lumon logo, sparking excitement among fans. Today, a surprise 23-minute mix has officially dropped.
ODESZA has infused their unique style into the haunting, ambient score originally composed by Theodore Shapiro. The complete mix is a continuous, eight-hour audiovisual experience that includes footage from the series.
“We aimed to take listeners on a journey, expanding the musical landscape while reinterpreting Teddy’s score in a distinctive manner,” Mills shared with Billboard. “We layered different chords beneath many of his melodies while staying true to the show’s eerie and subversive vibe.”
This mix is a treat for ODESZA fans, particularly as the duo is currently on a break. After wrapping up a massive tour for their album The Last Goodbye in summer 2024, they are stepping back to recharge and explore new creative avenues. Their previous hiatus after A Moment Apart left many fans longing for more, making projects like this especially welcome.
The combination of ODESZA’s atmospheric and ethereal sound with the themes of Severance is a perfect match. The show, now in its second season, follows a group of Lumon employees who opt for severance—a process that neurologically separates their work and personal lives. While they are aware of each other, “outies” and “innies” do not share memories or personalities, creating a unique dynamic within the elusive biotechnology company.
