Despite its rich history, Ibiza still holds a few unique experiences for adventurous nightlife enthusiasts. This summer, one of those exclusives will be filled, as Calvin Harris has secured the first-ever “double residency” at Ushuaïa Ibiza.
So, what does this groundbreaking residency entail? It consists of two distinct residencies, each occurring on a separate day of the week and overlapping for two months. One residency will take place every Friday from May 30 – September 12, while the other will be every Tuesday from July 1 – August 26.
A press release cites “unprecedented demand” as the driving force behind this decision, highlighting Harris’ collaborations with pop icons like Rihanna and The Weeknd, along with his impressive 56 million combined streams. The Fridays will build on Harris’ successful performances at Ushuaïa Ibiza, while the Tuesdays aim to introduce “a fresh concept that pushes the boundaries of production, sound, and spectacle.”
Calvin Harris expressed his excitement about the announcement, saying, “This is something that’s never been done before, and I’m thrilled to be the first artist to hold a double residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza. None of this would be possible without the incredible fans who’ve supported me every step of the way.”
He further added, “The energy of fans from around the globe, all coming together at the heart of electronic music, is something I can’t wait to experience again. Two residencies, two completely different nights — this is going to be a season unlike any other.”
This news follows Harris’ recent venture into country music with his new single titled “Smoke The Pain Away,” featuring his own vocals. Last year, he mentioned to MistaJam that he doesn’t envision himself DJing past the age of 50, suggesting that fans should take advantage of the opportunity to see him perform while they can.
