Congratulations on the release of “OFF THE FLOOR!” As your first single since 2023, what can you tell us about this new record and its significance for your music career?
“OFF THE FLOOR” marks the first single that introduces everyone to the new era of MARISOL. I spent over a year preparing this project behind the scenes and teasing a few tracks on my Instagram stories. Now, it’s finally happening! It feels surreal!
I’ve been on a personal journey to reach a point in my music career where the songs I release resonate with my true self, reflecting my tastes and desires. I’m proud of myself for navigating the growing pains of being an artist and arriving at this juncture. Now, the world can finally hear what I’ve created!
You’ve presented your fans with a different sound that’s darker and faster. What motivated you to make this shift from your previous style?
I think every artist can relate to the journey of “finding your sound.” When I first started producing, I tried to incorporate every skill I had into each song. I was layering high hats and adding multiple synth melodies into every drop, aiming to mimic the music I admired.
I was focused on proving my technical abilities, but I wanted to evolve beyond that. After meeting some talented friends who are producers from the UK, I decided to spend 2024 immersing myself in the club scene and performing more in Brooklyn and Switzerland. I learned far more by listening to music and collaborating with friends than I ever did alone in my studio.
MARISOL now embodies a darker and faster vibe because I’ve moved past overproduction. The current underground scene has also rekindled my love for the music I enjoyed as a 14-year-old, filled with underground electro and screamo sounds. I feel at home in this space and can’t wait to show how my new music aligns with my early love for electronic music!

This release also features an official music video created with Olav Stubberud. What was the collaboration like when bringing your creative vision to life on screen?
As an independent artist, I manage almost every aspect of my work, and Olav is the most talented videographer I’ve ever encountered. I feel fortunate to collaborate with such an incredible person (and to share life with him). We truly enjoy the creative process together. Olav, being Norwegian, has introduced me to a lot of his culture and country.
Last summer, on my birthday, we attended a rave in a Norwegian forest. For anyone who knows me, this was a dream come true, combining my love for dark forests and techno! Dancing until dawn amidst fog, frogs, and slugs was one of the most peaceful experiences I’ve ever had.
This moment deeply inspired the energy of the “OFF THE FLOOR” music video. Its raw essence focuses on fog and dancing, minimizing distractions throughout the project. To me, taking techno out of the club and into the open air feels fitting.
Considering you had a year-long break from music, why do you believe now is the ideal time to return and unveil your new sound and style?
The beauty of making music lies in the community you build around it. I used to produce alone in my bedroom, longing for a collective of creative minds. Working solo can be isolating.
In 2023, I met many talented friends who shared invaluable advice, almost like musical mentors. Initially, I felt pressured to create something immediately while in the studio with renowned names. Eventually, I allowed myself to listen and absorb real-world knowledge.
For months, I didn’t finish a single song. Instead, I granted myself space to breathe and rediscover what I wanted to create. I’m grateful for this time. Now, this new music project is genuinely reflective of me—something cinematic, dark, intense, emotional, yet danceable and shareable.
With “OFF THE FLOOR” now out, fans are curious about what’s next for you in this new genre. Are there plans for an album or EP showcasing this faster sound? If so, what can you reveal?
I can’t share too much yet, but the wait won’t be long for more exciting news! There’s a treasure trove of music and visuals ready to be unveiled.

As you embrace this new sound, how do you envision translating it into your live performances in the future?
My performances will stay true to my authentic sound and the universe I’m creating with MARISOL. Expect to experience tempos at or above 140 BPM most of the time. There’s also a narrative unfolding. It’s emotional, pulsating, and sensual. You’ll find yourself dancing while feeling like you’re part of a dramatic film.
I want MARISOL shows to unlock a darker side of yourself that you might have suppressed. I can sense the room’s energy shift when I play—it becomes sexier, even with the faster beats. The new MARISOL music will enhance this narrative and provide additional context.
Fans appreciate that you’re not just a music producer; you also run a successful YouTube channel and have a modeling career. How did these creative paths lead you to music?
Music has always been a significant passion of mine. Growing up in a non-musical family, I spent most of my life as a contemporary dancer, always searching for unique sounds to impress my peers in dance class. My obsession with music runs deep!
When I was a freshman in college, my YouTube channel gained traction. For years, my focus was solely on college and YouTube. Upon reaching 10 million subscribers, I had a realization: “I don’t care about gaining more followers. I have a community that knows me, and I know them. I want to pursue something for myself now.” That pursuit was music.
Since 2020, I’ve been merging social media with music, bringing my followers along on this journey. They understand the effort I’ve put in to reach this point in my music career. They know I didn’t just hire a ghost producer for a quick hit. I genuinely love this craft, and I’m incredibly fortunate to share it with a community that supports me like family.
Lastly, what advice do you have for women aspiring to break into any of the creative fields you’ve been a part of, such as YouTube, modeling, or music production?
To any woman looking to enter music or any creative industry, have confidence! You belong in this space. Even if you’re just starting, reach out to artists you admire. Connect with other producers or collaborators, and start building friendships. Try collaborating with that distant high school friend who makes hip-hop, even if you produce deep house. Those experiences can propel you forward on your journey.
Surround yourself with a creative environment that encourages experimentation, learning, and play. It’s up to you to cultivate that community, but it’s invaluable. Don’t hesitate to ask for help. I often reached out to friends for assistance with DJing and Ableton. Now, I’m that person offering DJ lessons to anyone who wants to try. There’s room for everyone in the creative world. You can do this!
