“I have been left with no other choice but to file lawsuits,” wrote Ash Pournouri, who managed Avicii from 2008-2016.
The recent release of the documentary Avicii – I’m Tim has prompted one of the late EDM superstar’s friends to speak out against what he described as “false storytelling.” Now, Avicii’s former manager, Ash Pournouri, has announced his intention to take legal action due to a narrative that seems to have persisted for a considerable time.
Pournouri took to LinkedIn to address how the rumors surrounding the April 2018 death of Avicii (real name Tim Bergling) have impacted him personally. “In a recent interview discussing my current business endeavors and what I have been focusing my energy on rebuilding, I confirmed that the recent years have been hell for me and my family,” he stated. “I have endured a false external narrative which, out of respect for Tim’s memory and family, I have actively chosen not to engage in.”
Pournouri elaborated: “That courtesy has not been reciprocated. Lies and false accusations from certain individuals continue with the intention of causing me harm and profiting from a tragedy. As a result, I have been left with no other choice but to file lawsuits, with the primary objective of putting an end to the lies and ensuring that the truth is known, once and for all.”
Previously, Pournouri has asserted that the 2017 documentary Avicii: True Stories inaccurately depicted him as having pressured Bergling to continue touring while he was unwell. It remains unclear whether the rumors he referred to in his statement are related to those in the earlier documentary.
The management of Bergling’s legacy has stirred controversy beyond just documentaries. Recently, his collaborator Sandro Cavazza claimed that their song “Forever Yours – Tim’s 2016 Ibiza Version” was released against his wishes after appearing in Avicii – I’m Tim.
