AXS Successfully Resells Scalped Tickets for Skrillex’s 2023 Red Rocks Show, Artist Shares “Radical Ideas”
Tickets for Skrillex’s highly anticipated five-hour performance at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado sold out almost instantly when they were released last week. This rapid sell-out has reignited discussions around ticket scalping in the live music industry, and Skrillex is not avoiding the topic.
In a series of candid tweets, Skrillex, whose real name is Sonny Moore, expressed his regret to fans affected by scalpers. “I’m sorry to the people who try to buy my tickets and get taken advantage of by scalpers,” he tweeted. “It’s incredibly frustrating and makes me feel terrible. My primary focus before I plan another tour is to figure out how we can improve this situation.”
Moore went on to say, “That said, I’m not complaining, but I do have some radical ideas for the future. In the meantime, we are doing everything we can to ensure that fairly priced tickets reach you.”
While Moore has yet to disclose specific strategies to tackle ticket scalping, he highlighted the successful efforts of AXS, the ticketing partner owned by AEG, during his last Red Rocks show in 2023. AXS was “able to recover a significant number” of tickets and sell them through their “Fair AXS” feature, which uses a lottery system to select buyers at random.
The 2023 Red Rocks show, which also lasted five hours, was announced shortly after the surprise release of Moore’s two albums, Quest for Fire and Don’t Get Too Close. This year’s announcement followed the unexpected launch of his extensive 34-track album, F*CK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3.
Skrillex is set to return to Red Rocks on Tuesday, May 13. It remains uncertain whether tickets will be retrieved and reallocated prior to this year’s performance.
