David Darvish, a 40-year-old man from Santa Monica, California, was taken into custody after allegedly threatening to bomb the Coachella Music & Arts Festival.

A man is currently in police custody with a bail amount set at $1 million after reportedly making threats to bomb the Coachella Music & Arts Festival on Saturday, April 12.

As reported by the Cathedral City Police Department, Darvish approached security personnel at the Agua Caliente Casino located in Rancho Mirage, California at around 11 AM, driving a Tesla. He allegedly claimed that he intended to bomb Coachella.

Indio, California, the site of the renowned music festival, is approximately 16 hours from the casino. The casino’s security staff alerted local law enforcement, who managed to locate Darvish’s vehicle within an hour. He was detained without any explosives or weapons found on his person or in the vehicle.

No charges have been filed against Darvish at this time. He is being held at the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio, while authorities continue to investigate his activities prior to the encounter with casino security.
