Patrick Harboun and his son’s Daft Punk-Inspired LEGO Set Hits 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas
Fans of Daft Punk and LEGO are buzzing with excitement as the creative duo of Patrick Harboun and his son have successfully rallied 10,000 supporters for their Daft Punk-inspired LEGO set on LEGO’s crowdsourcing platform.
The father-son team initially crafted and submitted this imaginative set for a contest by Universal Music back in 2020. Although they clinched first place, another design was ultimately selected for production. However, their persistence has paid off, as their concept has now advanced to the Review phase after achieving the necessary support on LEGO Ideas. This milestone means LEGO will officially evaluate the project, as indicated on the set’s Ideas listing.
The design draws significant inspiration from the iconic Pyramid stage that Daft Punk used during their legendary 2007 Alive Tour. This impressive structure first debuted at Coachella the year prior, solidifying the festival’s reputation for showcasing groundbreaking stage productions.
Harboun mentioned in 2020 that his appreciation for Daft Punk’s music grew through shared moments with his son, who initially was captivated solely by the hit “Get Lucky” from the 2013 album Random Access Memories. With encouragement, he expanded his musical horizons to embrace the entire discography of the iconic French duo.
“Seeing Daft Punk make their LEGO debut in the upcoming film Piece By Piece, alongside Pharrell Williams, has inspired us to try ‘One More Time’ with our LEGO project,” Harboun expressed when he resubmitted their idea in October 2024.
The LEGO review for Patrick Harboun and his son’s Daft Punk set is scheduled to commence in May 2025. According to the Ideas page, this evaluation can extend over several months, culminating in a definitive “go” or “no go” decision.
